MIPRONS is proud to announce a new partnership with renowned Italian astronaut Roberto Vittori, who has become the official endorser and ambassador of our groundbreaking space propulsion technology. With three missions to the International Space Station under his belt, flying both with the Space Shuttle and Soyuz, Vittori’s experience and expertise in space exploration make him the perfect advocate for our innovative solutions.
As already reported in an article published by Il Sole 24 Ore on October 22nd, in a video that will be posted on MIPRONS’ official accounts, Vittori highlighted his passion for promoting advanced technologies, stating, “I’m excited to represent a truly special technology with numerous applications, from electrolysis to combustion in miniaturized systems. The idea of producing power with just a drop of water is revolutionary”.
The significance of this Endorsement for MIPRONS
Vittori’s vision aligns perfectly with MIPRONS’ mission. As a leading Italian small enterprise,
we are at the forefront of developing a propulsion system based on the electrolysis of water, protected by several international patents. This system is designed to enhance satellite operations, making them faster, safer, and more sustainable. By breaking water down into hydrogen and oxygen directly in orbit, and using these gases in a miniaturized combustion chamber, our technology delivers the thrust needed for satellite movement.
The advantages of water as a propellant are numerous. Unlike traditional, costly, and geopolitically dependent propellants, water is abundant and can even be sourced in space from planetary ice or human biological fluids. According to the European Space Agency (ESA), the thrust produced by an electrolysis-based system can be up to 14 times higher than traditional electric propulsion systems of similar power.
Our Journey Continues
Having an astronaut of Vittori’s caliber join us represents a key milestone in our journey. His endorsement strengthens our commitment to revolutionizing space propulsion and brings us closer to our ambitious goals. As we continue to expand internationally and aim for full operational capacity by 2029, Vittori’s involvement will help us inspire confidence in the future of space exploration.
Our partnership with Thales Alenia Space Italia further validates the potential of our technology. Together, we are co-developing applications for satellites, marking an important step toward integrating our systems into the larger aerospace industry.
As stated by MIPRONS’ founder Angelo Minotti, “In the next 1-3 years, our plans include expanding the laboratory, acquiring a precision processing company, and hiring 10-15 people to accelerate the design, production, and testing processes. This plan will drive our technological, industrial, and commercial growth, with the goal of reaching full operational capacity by 2029 with a global team of around 50 people. We have already opened a branch in Singapore and plan to open one in the United States by next year. The objective is to achieve the first commercial flight of the technology by 2026”. With Vittori’s endorsement and our team’s innovative spirit, we are poised to achieve our ultimate vision: to revolutionize satellite propulsion with clean, sustainable, and powerful technology.
